It seems, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will not stop his fight against the Election Commission any time soon.
While many felt that Naidu fears losing the elections and so is fighting against the EC, a few opine that his fight with EC is intended towards suppressing the BJP at the Centre.
Naidu has been repeatedly saying that about 30% of the EVMs failed to work properly during the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. Going against it, Naidu reached out to the officials in Delhi and demanded to conduct the re-polling through the ballot papers instead of EVMs, opining that would do a fair-election and is tough to manipulate the votes.
It should be noted that the EC has not given a clear cut response about why so many EVMs failed to work during the elections till date. The experts opine that this type of non-responsive behavior from the EC is clearly indicating that it was compromised and is in the support of the BJP government. Naidu is making sure that he spreads negativity about BJP in all the states and is so meeting his friends in regional parties in other states in this regard.
Accompanied by such regional parties, Naidu is conducting the press meets in Delhi on a row. He also went against Supreme Court’s judgment of random picking of counting VVPAT slips in 5 booths in every constituency, and filed a petition requested the apex court for the counting of at least 25% VVPAT slips..
However, the BJP, just like any other opposition party termed Naidu’s moves as a political stunt but nothing else. But the analysts opine that there’s also need for BJP to rethink on the issue, as Naidu is able to pool up many regional parties behind him to fight against the Central government.
