Naveen Polishetty is a household name for comedy lovers after Agent Sai Srinivasa Athrey and Jathi Ratnalu. He is now back with another comedy caper, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty which released in theaters today. The film has veteran Anushka in other lead role. Let us see what the film has to offer.
Story:
Anvitha (Anushka Shetty) is a top chef who lives in London with her divorce mom. She has no faith in Love and marriage but her mom would like her to get married. After her mom’s demise, Anvi decides to get a baby for companionship, but would like to get that done through IUI (Sperm donor). She meets Sidhu Polishetty (Naveen), a stand up comedian in a show and selects him for sperm donation. How she makes him agree to this act and what happens between them forms the rest of the plot
What about on-screen performances?
Naveen Polishetty is a master of situational comedy and he is in full flow in this film. His antics as stand-up comedian are very good and tailor made. He has the right demeanor and attributes for this role. Anushka Shetty is seen in a quirky and seemingly bold NRI role. She is effortless and does a fine job. Although she looks bit aged, it goes with the movie plot so it doesn’t look misfit.
Murali Sharma, Jayasudha, Nassar, Abhinav Goutham, Harsha vardhan played important roles and did their parts well.
What about off-screen talents?
Director Mahesh babu wrote a relatively novel story line but narration is bit flat. His directional skills are ok. He handled some comedy and emotional scenes well. Editing by kotagiri venkateshwar rao could have been better. Songs music by Radhan and BGM by Gopi sundar are not upto the mark. Cinematography by Nirav Shah and production values by UV creations are just alright, nothing great to mention.
What’s Hot?
- Naveen Polishetty’s performance
- Situational comedy/Dialogues
What’s not?
- Pace of the film at times
- Music
Verdict:
The concept of stand up comedy and Sperm donor is not fully ingrained in the Telugu states and as a result, the core premise of this story might not be fully accustomed to regular telugu audience. Nevertheless, the movie has its moments in terms of situational comedy/dialogues that keeps urban audience engaged time to time. Although the pace of the movie and music are bit of a concern, you may watch it if you are bored.
