In a bid to ensure a safe and comfortable ride for women, the Hyderabad Metro Rail has reserved some seats for women in the Metro trains. However, sometimes we can see male passengers occupy these seats.
As per the latest info, six family members on March 12 boarded the Metro for the first time to travel from KPHB to Nagole in Hyderabad. As there were no vacancies in General coaches, the men from the family sat in the seats allotted to women.
A few moments later, the officials unboarded them from the train at the ESI station and Metro staff fined six of them Rs 100 each and handed them receipts.
However, the family, who was fined, was not happy being fined. As that was the first time they were travelling by a Metro, they were not aware of the rules and regulations. Even arguing with the officials couldn’t help the family escape from the fine. Therefore, it is advised that men travelling in the metro should make sure that they are not occupying the ladies’ seats.
