The government of Maharashtra has announced that effectively immediately, the cinema halls across the state should be operated with 50% seating capacity. The government also announced night curfew. Meaning, there will no more be evening and night shows in Maharashtra.
This announcement comes under two weeks prior to the release of RRR which will be out in theatres from 7th January.
Maharashtra is one of the major circuits for RRR’s theatrical prospects as the film’s Hindi-language theatrical rights were sold for an astonishing price. With the seating restriction and night curfew, the film’s collections could take a beating. This comes as a sudden shock to everyone who is involved with RRR.
This will also affect other biggies like 83, Jersey, and Radhe Shyam which are due for release in the next few weeks.
