Kollywood star Suriya starrer Jai Bhim, which was released on an OTT platform and received critical acclaim, had landed in a controversy after some scenes in the movie were found disturbing to the Vanniyar community.
Alleging that the film depicted Vanniyars in poor light, the members of the community approached High Court and lodged a complaint against Suriya, Jyothika and director TJ Gnanavel.
After many months, now the Madras High Court finally dismissed the FIR against the Jai Bhim team. The order was pronounced by the court on Thursday, August 11.
Jai Bhim is based on a true incident in 1993, which involves a case fought by Justice K. Chandru, played by Suriya. Except for his and that of the former Inspector General of Police Perumalsamy, the names of all other characters were changed in the movie.
