A woman police sub-inspector from Andhra Pradesh has shown her humanitarian gesture by carrying an 80-year-old homeless man’s dead body for more than 2 km when no one came forward for help at Adavi Kothur, a village in the outskirts of Sampangipuram’s Kasibugga-Palasa area.
Going beyond the call of duty, K. Sirisha, sub-inspector at the Kasibugga Police Station in Srikakulam district, along with two others carried the body to perform the last rites, on Monday.
The lady cop had come to know that the body of an unidentified man was found near Adavi Kothur. When the police officer visited the spot, she noticed that a beggar died due to ill health and no one had moved the body yet. The locals ignored the body so Sirisha, along with some locals, carried the body and performed the last rites with the support of Lalitha Charitable Trust.
This generous gesture from the police official won the hearts of thousands of people. Several police officers, including DGP Gautam Sawang, lauded the kind gesture by Sirisha.
A true inspiration for every uniformed officer out there.
