The relations between the TRS and the BJP seem to be worsening day by day, and the effects of that are being shown in different ways in the state. According to experts, state information and technology minister, KTR’s recent speech in the Telangana Assembly, is a reflection of these sentiments. In the question and answer session, KTR announced that the government would be cutting out electricity and water supply to the cantonment boards throughout the city if the defence department continued to block roads and create problems for developmental works in the city.
The minister said instructions would be issued to the Special Chief Secretary to hold a meeting and take up the related issues with LMA and initiate stringent measures if they do not mend their ways. KTR also pointed out that the check dams being constructed by the defence are obstructing the flow of water in the nalas. He noted the check dam in Langar Houz, where the Balkapur Nala flows into the Hussainsagar, was posing a threat to Shahtham Tank. As a means to ensure free flow of water from Shahtham tank near Golconda Fort downstream, a few works were planned, but the Archeological Survey of India denied permissions, citing different reasons.
KTR said that the water supply hasn’t been reinstated even after 18 months of the floods in October 2020, and pointed fingers at the Central government, stating that the Centre is not only giving the state the funds it deserves but is also denying the basic permissions. It is now to be seen what will happen in the days to come.
