The 26th of this month will mark the sixth month of the farmers’ protest against the Agriculture laws. On the same day, seven years of Narendra Modi’s rule as Prime Minister gets completed. Farmers’ unions have called for protests, marking the occasion as ‘All India Black Day’. 12 opposition parties in the country unanimously extended their support for the farmers’ protests.
The leaders of the respective parties signed a letter demanding the Prime Minister to immediately withdraw the Three Agricultural laws and legalize the minimum support price for crops. Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, JDS chief Deve Gowda, West Bengal CM and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, DMK chief and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, JAM chief and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, NC leader Farooq Abdullah, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav, CPI leader D. Raja and CPM leader Sitaram Achury signed the agreement.
However, the CMs of both the Telugu states, KCR and YS Jaganmohan Reddy haven’t declared their support for the ‘All India Black day’. It seems both the CMs of the Telugu states are maintaining silence over Agricultural laws since they met Modi in December 2020.
