Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa today announced a two-week lockdown from tomorrow in the entire state, including Bengaluru city. This decision came a day after the state reported the biggest rise of over 34,000 fresh cases in 24 hours.
Starting from April 27 night, the lockdown will continue for two weeks to contain the raging Coronavirus crisis in the state.
The state has exempted the essential services between 6 am and 10 am, and shops will shut after that. However, no public transport will be available during the curfew, the Chief Minister said.
The state has also permitted construction, manufacturing and agriculture sectors to work. Intra-state and Inter-state travel will also not be allowed, except for emergencies.
Shockingly, Bengaluru, which is the IT hub with 12 million, reported over 20,000 fresh infections on Sunday, second only to Delhi.
