Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Monday became the fastest bowler from the country to reach the landmark of 100 Test wickets. He accomplished the feat on the last afternoon of the fourth Test against the hosts at the Kennington Oval in London.
The 27-year-old pacer, who was on 99 after dismissing England opener Haseeb Hameed for a duck in the first innings, passed the 100 milestone after taking the wicket of Ollie Pope for 2 on the last day of the fourth Test.
The young pacer, reaching the triple-figure mark on his 24th Test appearance, surpassed Kapil Dev (25 Tests) to become fastest Indian pacer to 100 Test wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah is ranked 23rd on the list of Indian bowlers with the most wickets in the longest format of the game but has the best average (22.45) and strike rate (50.2) than the rest. He is presently equal with former pacer Irfan Pathan, who pocketed 100 wickets in 29 Tests.
