Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy filed a petition seeking for the exemption to appear before the court.
Jagan had been appearing before the CBI special court on every Friday over the months, as he was accused in disproportionate assets case. But after becoming the CM of the state, he is now trying to find several ways to skip attending the court.
Regarding the same, the young CM filed a petition seeking exemption from personal appearance as he would be busy in discharging administrative duties as Chief Minister. He instead asked the court to allow his lawyer in his absence. The CBI court is expected to take up the petition today.
Even during the election campaigning, as YS Jagan was busy with the public meetings, he sought the permission from attending the CBI special court, for which the court nodded yes.
But as Jagan is now seeking exemption for a long duration, the court may not announce the similar verdict. If at all, the court accepts the petition, then the opposition parties will lose the option of trolling Jagan, with the tag “Friday CM”. So, it may thus become the first major victory of the young CM in his government.
