One of the many unpopular decisions, the YSRCP government took after its formation is scrapping Anna Canteens across the state.
It is quite common for the subsequent governments to change the names of the public welfare schemes of the previous government and continue the same. The TDP government has continued several schemes introduced by the late YS Rajashekar Reddy, in his regime.
But just like going against every step taken by the TDP, the YSRCP government also scrapped the Anna Canteens completely, instead of changing the name. The decision made the state government receive severe criticism from the public. Especially, the poor and small-time employees criticized Jagan and his government big time.

So the government is reportedly planning to rethink on the scheme. It is reportedly planning to bring Mobile Canteens across the state, in place of Anna Canteens and offer food. The YSRCP government will be offering the food through these canteens at an extreme low cost, which is expected to be cheaper than what TDP’s Anna Canteens offered the food.
It should be seen, whether the new scheme satisfies the general public and thus help the state government, to gain back the reputation from them.
