Samantha and Sharwanand starrer Jaanu which is the remake to Tamil cult classic ’96 has been a disappointment. Though the movie has got positive reviews, it somehow failed to attract the audiences. There are several factors for this. Slow pace of the film didn’t go well with the Telugu audiences and availability of ’96 in digital media haven’t helped the film.
Dil Raju with so passion has produced this movie. Upon liking it, he made arrangements for the remake. Repeated almost same cast and crew except for lead actors. Though that helped in bringing out the same feel it didn’t replicate into collections. Overall, Jaanu though is a proud film for performances but not so at box office. It has done around 19 Crores theatrical business but was confined to only 8 Cr collections.
