Earth imaging and mapping satellite CARTOSAT-3 has been launched on Wednesday from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has planned for the launch of CARTOSAT-3 satellite, along with 13 other nano satellites from the 2nd launch pad at spaceport of Sriharikota about 120 kms at 09.28 am.
CARTOSAT-3 is an advanced satellite having high resolution imaging capability. So the prestigious PSLV-C47 on its 49th mission would carry CARTOSAT-3 from the United States.
Announcing on Twitter, ISRO tweeted, “PSLV-C47 standing tall at the launch pad in Sriharikota. Less than 16 hours for launch. Stay tuned …”

The space Centre further said that the latest launch is the 74th launch vehicle mission from Sriharikota. Five years will be the mission life of CARTOSAT-3.
Earlier in last July, ISRO’s moon mission Chandrayaan 2, which was supposed to be the country’s first, has failed to manage a soft landing on the moon.
