Telangana Rashtra Samithi Working President and IT Minister KTR has surprised everyone by extending his support to the Visakha Steel Plant movement. He expressed solidarity towards those who are protesting against the privatization of the steel plant as well.
KTR said that the steel plant is the right of the people of Andhra Pradesh and that the Central Government has no right in taking it away from them. As soon as KTR extended his support, many versions of why the minister did this have come out, and that includes the version of an industrialist from Andhra Pradesh. He said that this is a highly strategic move from KTR, who has done this in view of the upcoming MLC elections under graduates’ constituency.
The industrialist said that KTR is very much aware of the sentiments that the people of Andhra Pradesh have attached to the steel plant and that he is trying to win the votes of the graduates from Andhra Pradesh, living in Telangana, for the upcoming MLC elections.
Telangana Congress working president A Revanth Reddy also said the same thing and accused KTR of stooping very low as to taking advantage of political issues that go beyond the boundaries.
On the other hand, people belonging to TRS say that KTR has extended his support to the non-privatization of the Visakha Steel plant, to make sure that the Center does not get to Singareni Collieries in the future.
