12 persons including the Chief executive of the LG Polymers limited, Vishakapatnam from who’s plant the poisonous gas styrene was released and took lives of 15 persons are granted bail by the High Court on Tuesday.
There was a huge criticism when they were arrested by the Visakhapatnam police on July 7 in connection with the gas leakage case, two months after the gas leakage incident on May 7 this year and now they were released on bail as the police failed to submit the charge sheet within three months of registering the case.
LG Polymers’ managing director and CEO Sunkey Jeong, technical director D S Kim (both South Korean nationals), additional director (operations) Pitchuka Poorna Chandra Mohan Rao, head of the department and shift in-charge Kodi Srinivas Kiran Kumar, team leader (production) Raju Satyanarayana were among those who were arrested and were granted bail.
Though the YSRCP government announced Rs.1 crore rupees ex-gratia for the families of each and every deceased person, the families asked the government for actual justice which is nothing but simply punishing the responsible for their loss.
However, both the government and police collectively failed to tighten the screws around the accused and gave them a chance to mislead the case. Some reports are coming out that the Police intentionally failed to file and submit the charge sheet in the required time due to some external pressures and it is yet to know about what has happened behind the scene.
