The Indian National Congress in Andhra Pradesh is a story that nobody wants to discuss. They have been dormant for years except few leaders here and there and in the state matters the leaders involve the least when compared to other prominent parties in the state. There are obvious reasons for these differences between AP and Telangana for the same party.
Now, it seems like INC has found some motivation out of nowhere as their leaders started to discuss the Amaravati issue all of a sudden. They announced that a separate wing was formed in Indian National Congress to fight for the Amaravati cause as the Congress has decided to stand with Amaravati as the AP capital.
In fact, the start of the Amravati movement is approaching its 340th day and the Congress has never been on the floor in years and even they say that they are in favour of Amravati except shouting a few slogans. Even when the farmers are restrained and despite serious disputes Congress leaders have not come to the capital region all these days.
The only leader is Sunkara Padmashree who is touring here and there. But now the Congress leaders have suddenly opened their eyes. The capital movement is said to have just begun. The by-poll has now become a source of pride for Sake Sailajanath, who took the reins of the Congress in a bid to win even a small share of the vote in last year’s elections. This is the crucial election that will take place after he takes office.
The Congress leaders say that he has taken this election with pride as he is a leader from the Rayalaseema region to prove himself and is moving forward with the determination to win here. However, nothing is in favour of the Congress as Panabaka Lakshmi, the ex-Congress leader is contesting from TDP and there is no existing cadre for INC and a proper leadership in the district. Things can’t be much dramatic and drastic right?
