Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, starring Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role released on Netflix yesterday and opened to a mixed response. The film showcases the supposed struggles of Gunjan, the first female pilot in the Indian Air Force.
The film also depicts the discrimination Gunjan faces in the Indian Air Force as her superior officers humiliate her more often than not.
Incidentally, the Indian Air Force has written a letter to the censor board, objecting its “Undue Portrayal” in Gunjan Saxena.
A retired army official said, “The film is filled with lies. Women officers are treated with utmost respect in IAF.”
“Please dont malign the Armed Forces just because you want to sell your film,” the officer remarked while speaking about Gunjan Saxena:The Kargil Girl.
Gunjan Saxena has already been facing the heat on social media as many netizens feel it is a product of nepotism and are relating it to the demise of Bollywood superstar Sushant Singh Rajput. Now, the film is in the firing line again as it reportedly sheds poor light on the Indian Air Force.
