India will supply made-in-India Coronavirus vaccines to Pakistan as a part of the global alliance for delivering vaccines across the world.
The international vaccine alliance, GAVI, will provide 45 million doses of India-developed Covishield vaccine to Pakistan. Notably, GAVI works to improve access to immunization in underprivileged countries, from India.
Apparently, Pakistan is the only Saarc country to not ask for coronavirus vaccine from India, choosing Chinese vaccines.
India has provided vaccines to 65 countries so far under three categories- as part of global vaccine alliance, as grant or aid, and through business deals.
All of India’s next-door-neighbour, except Pakistan, are among the nations that got these vaccines. Maldives, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh began their vaccination drive using ‘made-in-India’ vaccines.
