Along with the novel Corona virus, the concern over mucormycosis or black fungus cases has been increasing with each passing day. India has so far recorded nearly 8,848 mucormycosis or black fungus cases. As per reports, as many as 200 have lost their lives because of this infection.
Black fungus is one of the swiftly spreading infections that is commonly observed in those recovering from Covid-19. As per reports, this is mostly seen in patients, who were taking steroids for a long time and hospitalised for a long time. People who are taking medication for other illnesses such as diabetes are also getting infected with the fungus.
Gujarat has reported a maximum of 2,281 black fungus cases followed by Maharashtra (2,000), Andhra Pradesh (910), Madhya Pradesh (720) Rajasthan (700), Karnataka (5,00), Haryana (250), Delhi (197), Punjab (95), Chhattisgarh (87), Bihar (56), Tamil Nadu (40), Kerala (36), Jharkhand (27), Odisha (15), Goa (12) and Chandigarh (8).
