In a terrifying development, India has reported over 1.1 lakh new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The country has seen this unwanted record after almost seven months, 214 days ago — when the second pandemic wave was on the wane.
As per the official data, the South Asian Country has registered 1,17,100 new cases and 302 deaths in the last 24 hours. The cases reported were 28.8% higher than the previous day. With the addition of new cases and deaths, the total caseload went to 3,52,26,386 while the death toll touched the 4,83,178 mark. Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (221), followed by West Bengal, with 19 daily deaths.
With 30,836 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the country’s active caseload is now at 3,71,363. India’s recovery rate now stands at 97.57%. However, it took just 8 days for the cases to go up from 10,000 to over 1 lakh.
The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Maharashtra with 36,265 cases, followed by West Bengal with 15,421 cases, Delhi with 15,097 cases, Tamil Nadu with 6,983 cases and Karnataka with 5,031 cases.
