India hit a grim milestone on Sunday that the country recorded 1,03,558 fresh Covid cases, taking the national total to 12.59 million cases.
This is the biggest-ever daily surge that was recorded before in the country. With the recent addition, the current Covid-19 toll stands at 1,25,89,067. By adding 478 fresh deaths, the toll is raised to 1,65,101.
Apparently, India has the world’s third-highest number of cases after the US, with 30 million, and Brazil, with just under 13 million.
As the nation battles the second pandemic wave, the centre has determined to send special teams to the most affected states in the country. Maharashtra, Punjab and Chhattisgarh top the list because of the high number of new daily cases and the disproportionate number of deaths.
