India is struggling to cope with spiking Covid-19 infections. The country has recorded the highest one-day tally of fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
It recorded over 3.46 lakh new coronavirus cases, while deaths rose by 2600 Friday. The death toll from the Covid stands at 189,549 while there are over 2.55 million active cases. The country has close to 17 million confirmed cases, second only to the US.
In just three days, India has reported close to a million fresh cases (9.94 lakh), while Friday was also the fourth straight day that the country reported over 2,000 deaths in 24 hours. With the addition of 3,45,147 fresh cases, the total caseload stands at 16,602,456.
The six most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (4,161,676), Kerala (1,322,054), Karnataka (1,247,997), Tamil Nadu (1,037,711), and Andhra Pradesh (997,462), Uttar Pradesh (976,765) and Delhi (956,348).
