Millions of Indians wished to see the men’s hockey team clinching first place at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. However, their dreams have shattered after Belgium beat India 5-2 in the first men’s hockey semifinal.
The men’s hockey team, which made it to the semi-finals after a gap of 49 years, couldn’t defeat Belgium although the Indian players tried their best. Harmanpreet and Mandeep scored for India.
Alexander Hendrickx hat-trick and Dohmen’s fifth goal in the final minute have sealed the victory for Belgium. The team, which defeated India, will enter their second consecutive Olympic final.
On the other hand, India can now look forward to the bronze medal match. They will play Germany or Australia, where they’ll face the loser of the semifinal. The match is scheduled to be played on August 5, at 7 am IST!
