Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy kept on stressing about special category status, which the Centre termed it as a closed chapter. But neither the new CM, nor any of his party leaders, have mentioned about Amaravathi.
Even Governor Narasimhan has failed to make a mention about the capital city in his assembly speech. This led to several doubts among the political circles that whether the new government would care anything about the capital city.

Amaravathi’s development has become the prestige question of Andhrites, after the Telugu states were bifurcated and Telangana people took away Hyderabad. Naidu has challenged to develop Amaravathi on par with Singapore. Even before he could begin any major developments, unfortunately he had to lose power in the recent elections.
So unwilling to continue what Naidu has started and thus give him the credit, the new government is reportedly not willing to take forward the works of the capital city. But, the YSRCP government cannot dare to keep aside the sentiment of Andhrites, neglecting Amaravathi development, which could cost dearly to Jagan and YSRCP.
