The Andhra Pradesh Government has already decided to shift the capital from Amaravati. They cited that the city is on the Bank of Krishna River and over the Praksham barrage and termed it as a hollow region that can be severely affected during the period of floods.
Even though they have shown these many reasons for the capital shift, they wanted to settle Amaravati as legislative capital as they can’t make Vizag as the state’s capital overnight and transfer the required resources within a short period. Hence they termed Visakha as ‘executive capital’ of the state. These are all the mastermind politics of YS Jagan and his crew.
Now, everyone started to question whether Vizag is safe when a media house declared it as the safest zone in the state as a counter to ‘Yellow media’ which reported that Vizag is under the serious threat of an earthquake. Really? Is Vizag that safe?
Let aside Cyclones, at least once in a year, the Bengal shore makes the Vizag pay with its unusual transformation which will be a burden to the state people economically. Including that, economically, Andhra Pradesh is in no position to build three capitals for a state and the procurement of the infrastructure is always a big problem.
YCP leaders argue that ‘Visakhapatnam as capital’ is a boon to Uttarandhra. So, according to their logic, it was if Jagan hadn’t betrayed Uttarandhra, to change capital from Amaravati is to indirectly admit that the ruling party leaders have done injustice to another region. The series of gas leak incidents and ever-prone risk to cyclones will make the derailing state economy much worse and considering all these, no one has the right to argue the eligibility of the Amaravati as AP capital.
