The fight about the capital of Andhra Pradesh is still very much a hot topic in the state, with the government refusing to bend to the word given to the farmers of Amaravati. Today, both Jagan and Chandrababu participated in public gatherings, where both of them made shocking statements on the other.
At the Jana Bheri gathering in Rayapudi, Chandrababu challenged Jagan to give up his idea of 3 Capitals, or asked him to go for a referendum, where the people of Andhra Pradesh would state their opinion on the Capital of their choice. Babu said that he would even quit politics if people voted for 3 Capitals, instead of Amaravati.
Babu also said that Amaravati is the best capital for AP, with 6 districts and 12 constituencies on its one side, and 6 other districts and 12 other constituencies on its other side. He said that Amaravati would yield a great profit for the state, once it has been fully developed, and that only a mad man would prefer shifting the capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam.
Jagan, on the other hand, spoke at the BC Sankranthi event today. He criticised Chandrababu and how the ex-CM organised the Jana Bheri, trying to attract all kinds of attention towards him, scared that Jagan would get more importance.
Jagan said that Amaravati is a land that is fit for nothing, and that every single piece of land was sold because of internal trading. He said that investing in Amaravati would yield no benefit, and that it would turn out to be futile for the the entire state.
