It was what we expected..! India started with 0/1 as starc cleaned up Prithvi Shaw and Mr. Dependable 2.0 Pujara teared down the Aussies and Kohli, Cummins have shown why they were ranked top in the Test Cricket rankings.
After battling hard on Day 1, India finsihed with 233 runs of board losing 6 wickets, the pure and proper batsmen in their team. Saha and Ashwin managed well to defend the 2nd new ball in the last 10 overs before Rahane and Vihari caught infront of the wickets. Previously, Pujara over advanced to Lyon’s flighted delivery to nick one behind after scoring 42 runs to his name.
Kohli who joined Pujara when India were 32-2 after Mayank fell for a hard-earned 17 steadied the ship with his gritty 74 before Rahane sold him down the river for a never-existed single. Rahane also fell in gulit for a well played 42 and Vihari (9) was caught well in crease to give Aussies the advantage on Day 1.
So, India will be looking to pass that psychological 300 mark with Saha and Ashwin being the lone Indian specialist batsmen otherwise it will be Austarlia in the driver’s seat on the start of the Day 2.
