Four IAS officers and another retired IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh, Manmohan Singh, R Mutyala Raju IAS, Seshagiri Babu, S S Rawat and Imtiaz Ahmed were sentenced to jail, along with compensation, for failing to implement the court’s order in the land compensation of a woman in the state.
The judgement was passed on September 2nd, and the officers were given a month’s time to move the division bench for an appeal. On Thursday, the division bench, to which these officers have since appealed, has cancelled their jail sentence, as the officers told the court that the land compensation had already been paid to the petitioner and the orders were followed.
The petitioner moved the court after they felt that they were not compensated for the issue with their land, by the officers. The officers have also been directed by the HC to pay the petitioner a sum of Rs. 1 Lakh as compensation from their personal accounts, and not from the government’s account.
