Tirupati MLA and YSRCP member, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy is, without doubt, one of the most influential politicians of Andhra Pradesh. If Mudragada was able to run a campaign in favour of the YSRCP when the YSRCP was in opposition, then it was because of Bhumana. However, things seem to be very different right now, with Bhumana’s position a big question mark.
It is very well known that Karunakar Reddy is bringing his son, Bhumana Abhinay Reddy into politics. At the time when everyone thought that Bhumana would be made the deputy mayor, Chief Minister Jagan gave the post to someone else. According to the Tirupati corporation reservation, Abhinay Reddy is not eligible for the post of mayor, and hence he thought that he would be made the deputy mayor and be able to make a difference with that post, but now, he’s lost out on that opportunity as well.
As if to appease Bhumana, the YSRCP released told the media that it would be creating a second deputy mayor post, which would be given to Abhinay Reddy. However, they said that the delay is because the ordinance for the second deputy mayor post has not been approved yet. It is being said that this ordinance is to be approved by the cabinet and by the Governor. While members of the YSRCP have said that the ordinance has been sent to the governor, sources say that it is not the case.
The YSRCP high command seems to be intent on reducing the power and command that senior leaders of the party have, which explains the way Bhumana is being side tracked by the party. Whether this is true or not can only be seen in the coming days.
