Former Minister and TDP MLA, Ganta Srinivas Rao, has resigned from his post, in a shocking turn of events. He even sent the letter to the Assembly Speaker, Thammineni Sitaram, but the MLA has laid down certain conditions for the Speaker to take into consideration, before he accepts Ganta’s resignation.
The Central Government’s decision to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel plant is not going down very well with the public of Visakhapatnam, and anyone who has always considered the plant to be a major part of Visakhapatnam’s history. Protests are being carried out in Visakhapatnam currently, against the privatisation of the steel plant.
In retaliation to the privatisation of the steel plant, Ganta Srinivasa Rao has decided to resign from his post, but he has asked the Speaker to only accept his resignation if the Steel Plant is officially privatised.
However, considering that the letter was not in the format of a letter that is to be submitted to a Speaker, Thammineni Sitaram cannot take any action on it right away. It is now to be seen what will happen, and if RINL (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) will really be privatised, or if the people of Visakhapatnam will be able to stop it.
