The stamps and registration department of the Andhra Pradesh government has now come into the limelight, for being highly corrupt, and for the various ake challans scam that is prevalent.
Nearly 60 Lakh fake challans have been identified by AP revenue department special chief secretary Rajat Bhargava, who said that all employees who resorted to these fak challans would be identified and taken action upon, accordingly. All the property registrations that took place since March this year have been verified and it has been found that transactions worth nearly Rs. 5.50 Crores were done through fake challans.
The inquiry is currently going on, and six sub-registrars have already been suspended. This scam is said to have been done through the loopholes in the registration software, which is now said to be fixed. On the other hand, the AP government, which has been embarrassed by the incident, is saying that it had already identified the scam previously and took necessary actions privately.
