Seeking better opportunities around the world, former India U-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand announced his retirement from Indian cricket today.
The young cricketer took to Twitter to share a long note, in which he confirmed he is parting ways with Indian cricket but is ready to take up the opportunities around the world.
Unmukt led the junior team to a World Cup victory in 2012 and become an India A regular soon after his heroics in the final. He has also been India A captain till 2015.
The youngster made his IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils in 2013 before moving to Rajasthan Royals during the IPL 7 Auction. He was later picked by the Mumbai Indians in the 2015 season.
Chand, who also captained his state team, was dismissed from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad in 2017 and became an irregular member of the team after that. He moved to Uttarakhand in 2019, but it didn’t work, and he switched back to Delhi.
Unmukt Chand ends his ‘Indian cricket’ career with 3379 runs in first-class cricket, 4505 runs in List A cricket and 1565 runs in T20s.
