A lot of discrepancies have been reported in the Chittoor district’s corporation elections. Of the 50 divisions in the district, 37 divisions have reported unanimous candidates. Several people have come up saying that their signatures were forged, even though they did not withdraw their nominations.
A candidate belonging to the seventh division filed a petition and has been fighting a severe battle, against his signature being forced, due to which the SEC had to postpone the elections in this division due to this petition.
Many members belonging to the Telugu Desam Party have approached the High Court, stating that their signatures were forged in over 18 divisions. They asked for a thorough and comprehensive inquiry into the matter. These petitions, along with the one filed by the candidate belonging tot he seventh division will come to a hearing in the High Court on Monday.
The SEC is being criticised highly for not taking any action against these discrepancies, and the concerned authorities are also under huge scrutiny for their lack of action. There have to surveillance videos of the forgery of these signatures, however, nothing is being said by the concerned authorities, and no one is bothered to check for this evidence against the said forgery.
