Doctors, Police, Medical staff and sanitation workers are said to be the COVID warriors who stand between the people and virus but there is another clan that is at high risk along with these warriors. They are none but journalists who have to report news in any crisis period and any disastrous phase of life.
It is known that due to this fourth estate, we have been informed about the COVID updates, hospital updates, vaccine updates, virus’ spread, and most importantly the precautions we should take in this high time. No matter what, they should go into the public, create awareness, analyze situation and report the news at time. But no one in the state understands their plight.
In the two Telugu states, one man came forward and gave them confidence and security for their lives. TDP general secretary, Ex AP Minister Nara Lokesh provided insurance cover to journalists in Mangalagiri constituency during Corona. Lokesh said the premium was Rs 10 lakh for natural death, Rs 20 lakh for accidental death, and included the insurance for COVID deaths in it.
Lokesh also criticized the YSRCP government for failing to curb the spread of the corona epidemic. He accused the state of not taking proper action despite the rising number of corona cases.
There are many journalists who were attacked by this deadly virus in the last three months and most recently, an NTV journalist in Tirupati recorded a voice message that he wasn’t provided better treatment though his condition is critical. Eventually, he died. Now, the Journalists associations are showering appraisals on Nara Lokesh and the TDP leaders say that they are very proud of their leader.
