Former union minister Jaswant Singh passed away this morning when he was 82. Reportedly the ex- minister Jaswant Singh had been in Coma for the past six years. In 2014, he was admitted to the Army (Research and Referral) Hospital in Delhi subsequent to a major head injury at his residence.
Jaswant Singh, who was from Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, had contributed invaluable service to India as foreign minister, defence minister and finance minister under Atal Bihari Vajpayee governance . He was an official in the Army during the 1950s and 60s yet he quit to make a long political career.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh, Prime minister Narendra Modi, president of NCP Sharad Pawar and other officials shared about Jaswant Singh’s greatness post his demise.
PM Modi tweeted, “Jaswant Singh Ji will be remembered for his unique perspective on matters of politics and society. He also contributed to the strengthening of the BJP. I will always remember our interactions. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti”.(sic)
Late Jaswant had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as an Independent candidate from Barmer district in Rajasthan after he failed to get a BJP ticket. He distinguished himself as an effective minister and parliamentarian.
