Natural Star Nani had extensively promoted his latest film Dasara, ahead of its release, resulting in good expectations surrounding the film. The opening collections for the film were better than expected, turning out to be Nani’s career best. This was a surprise, given that the film got a mixed response from common audience in telugu states and overseas, thanks to the lenient/positive reviews by majority of the websites and no competition at the time of release.
With the weekend now over, the collections have significantly dropped last 2 week days matching to the movies actual worth (click here for the genuine review of Dasara). A drop was expected nonetheless from Monday, but the collections have gone down south than what was expected, and are only expected to further drop in the coming days. If the current situation continues, Dasara is expected to complete its theatrical run long before the expected window.
Collections in the USA seem to be on par with Nani’s previous films. Given that the actor has always enjoyed a good hold in the USA, it comes as no surprise except for some over zealous media comparing the numbers to that of Megastar’s recent blockbuster Waltair veerayya. But the situation in the Telugu states is rather shocking though.
In the Ceded and some areas of AP, even break-even might be difficult (loss venture) for the film going by the current trade numbers. In Nizam area the film did well (Thanks to Telangana nativity of the film) and raked in profits for distributors/exhibitors.
