The first batch of anti-Coronavirus drug 2-DG, developed by the DRDO, was released today by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan
The anti-COVID drug was formally handed to AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria by Rajnath Singh to Dr Harsh Vardhan.
Reports reveal that the DRDO will make nearly 10,000 doses of the 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2DG) medicine available this week to be administered across India. The drug was approved for emergency use in India on May 1.
The anti-COVID-19 drug has been developed by DRDO scientists at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) in collaboration with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL) in Hyderabad.
The clinical trials of the drug revealed that it was effective against the deadly virus and showed signs of recovery in patients.
