Doordarshan, which is the main TV channel in India, few decades back, is now back in form. From 1959 till 1980s, Doordarshan has been the top rated TV channel in India and people used to stick to the TVs to watch the serials like Ramayana and Mahabharata, apart from the weekend movies.
In 1990s, when the cable TV came into picture, Doordarshan lost the competition to the private channels and in the 21st century, Satellite TV took over the traditional broadcasting and private TV channels ruled the roost. Now, as the country went to the lock down state, Doordarshan started telecasting the old Ramayana and Mahabharata serials and the current generation is getting attracted back to the legendary TV channel.
As per the latest BARC ratings, Doordarshan stood in No.1 place in India with 156.48 Crores weekly impressions. The viewers count of Doordarshan raised by 580 times and is bringing back the revenue to the Government organization. Current generation is enjoying the moments which older generation enjoyed few decades back.
