Amid the huge spike in Covid cases, several states in India are heading towards complete lockdown to curb the alarming situations. In order to control the virus spread in the state, the Yogi Adityanath government has announced an extension of weekend lockdown for Uttar Pradesh.
The government has imposed a complete lockdown from Friday night (April 30) to Tuesday morning at 7 am (May 4).
The state announced that all markets, shopping malls, restaurants, private and public offices will be locked from Friday night to Tuesday at 7 am until further orders.
The state has also urged people to stay indoors, and only those required in essential services will be excused from the new restrictions. However, pharmacy shops, hospitals, and other essential services will be opened during the curfew.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh reported the highest single-day rise in its Covid-19 death toll, with 266 more people dying to disease, while 29,824 fresh cases took the tally to 11,82,848.
