Everybody has their own opinion on this about how do they want to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic.
As these Local Body Elections are falling right in the middle of the spread of virus, the Election Commission had to take a wise decision to postpone the elections by another 6 weeks. Even the schools and public gathering places are shut down in the country.
But just like how Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh State YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was not happy, even it’s Principal Secretary Neelam Sahni too isn’t.
She had written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner that they should withdraw the postponement of the election. When all the necessary equipment and supplies are ready for the elections, why postponing is necessary, asks Neelam.
Even if it was for Coronavirus, when the country is shutting down for just 2 weeks, why postpone elections for 6 weeks or more?
If they would have consulted with the Government, we would have given them a factual report on how the State is taking all precautions against the spread of the Coronavirus, said Neelam with disappointment in the EC’s decision.
