We are just in the second game of Dream 11 IPL 2020 and we already had a super over. The second game of the league between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab went down the wire and ended up as a tie. While it was Marcus Stoinis (53) who played a superb game in the first innings, it was Mayank Agarwal (89) who almost took Punjab on the shores of victory in the latter half of the game. In super over, Punjab scored just two runs and lost two wickets in the first three balls. Delhi chased it with four balls to spare.

After losing the toss, Delhi had to bat first with Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw opening the lineup. The duo failed to give a start to the team as fell within the first three overs. Shimron Hetmyer, who came in the third position, also got out inside powerplay. Thus, Delhi lost three wickets for just 13 runs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer then settled down the things with Rishab Pant. Both of them made 73 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. When they looked settled, two of them got out in consecutive overs. This pushed Delhi into further trouble. Then, all the responsibility fell on the shoulders of Marcus Stoinis. The Australian all-rounder handled the pressure well and put a reasonable total on board. His stunning half-century helped Delhi Capitals to score 157 runs in 20 overs. Mohammed Shami registered his best figures in IPL by claiming 3 wickets for 15 runs.

Kings XI Punjab’s openers started off on a good note and made about 30 runs in the first four overs. But soon things took a dramatic turn when Rahul got dismissed. In the very next over, Ashwin dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Karun Nair. Maxwell also got out in the subsequent over. Thus, Punjab got into serious trouble with the loss of four wickets. Young player Sarfaraz Khan also failed to build the innings and fell very soon. Then, Mayank Agarwal tried to settle the innings with the help of Krishnappa Gowtham. They made 46 runs partnership and finally, Rabada broke that chain. Even when everyone on the other side is falling, Mayank didn’t give up. He fought hard until the end and got out only when his team needed one run to win. When one run needed off one ball, Chris Jordan got caught by Kagiso Rabada. Thus, the match ended up as a tie and resulted in a super over.

Scorecard:

Delhi Capitals: 157/8 (Marcus Stoinis 53, Shreyas Iyer 39, Shami 3/15)

Kings XI Punjab: 157/8 (Mayank Agarwal 89, KL Rahul 21, Ashwin 2/2)
