CSK ropes Dominic Drakes as Sam Curran’s replacement

The Chennai Super Kings have announced the inclusion of West Indian all-rounder Dominic Drakes into the squad as a replacement for injured Sam Curran. The bowling all-rounder, who excelled in the Caribbean Premier League, was welcomed into the big tournament.

England all-rounder Sam Curran, who suffered a back injury during the match against Rajasthan Royals, played only two matches for Super Kings in the UAE leg. Overall this season, he picked nine wickets in nine games and scored 56 runs in four innings.

Dominic, the son of a former West Indies cricketer, is yet to make his international debut. However, he only made it to the recently concluded Caribbean League. Representing St Kitts & Nevis Patriots led by Dwayne Bravo, he took 16 wickets in the tournament. In particular, in the final, Dominic played a key role in giving the team its first title, remaining unbeaten on 48 off 24 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes.

Chennai Super Kings will take on Punjab Kings on Thursday. In this context, it is interesting to see whether Dominic will get a place in the final squad for today’s match.
