The Indian Railways has released a set of guidelines for travellers amidst the second wave of Coronavirus hitting India. The Department of Railways has clarified that passengers who have been on the waiting list will no longer be allowed to board the trains.
According to the latest rules, only those who have a reservation ticket will be permitted to travel. The South Central Railway has issued a statement to this effect.
Here are the new guidelines:
Unreserved passengers are allowed only on trains with unreserved coaches.
The prepaid catering facility has been halted in view of Covid-19. Under the latest rules, passengers will not be able to book food while booking their tickets.
‘Ready to Eat Meal’, only packaged items are available on trains. This facility is available through IRCTC. Passengers on trains are no longer given blankets.
The below terms are mandatory:
Face masks are mandatory at railway stations and in trains. Physical distance must be followed, and the passenger should carry a sanitizer along with them.
Passengers are allowed to travel only after they clear through the thermal screening.
Passengers should follow the Covid rules enforced by the respective state governments. Use of Aarogya Setu application is a must.
