The coronavirus delta type, which is highly contagious, has spread to nearly 135 countries. Cases are on the rise in many countries, including Brazil, Russia, Britain and Iran. Mortality is on the rise in Indonesia.
More than one lakh daily cases have been reported in the US for the last 3 days. The number of hospital admissions has more than tripled in the last month or so.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number has risen from an average of 12,000 to 43,000. More than 1.20 lakh people were infected with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours on Thursday across the country. Florida has the highest number of cases, with over 20,000, followed by California at 10,000. Florida, Georgia and Louisiana account for 40 percent of all hospital admissions.
Delta type cases are on the rise in China. With this, China has again started austerity measures. Imposed lockdowns in several areas, including Nanjing. Besides restricting people to their homes, it banned all forms of travel.

In Iran, 38,674 cases were reported in a single day. The virus has recently infected 30,215 people in Britain. More than 20,000 daily cases were reported in Russia, Turkey, France and Mexico.
