Once again Rahul Gandhi’s real name, citizenship and qualifications come to the fore with a complaint lodged by a contestant in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency.
Dhruv Lal, who entered the fray as a independent, on Saturday demanded convincing clarifications on Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s affidavit filed before him as contestant from Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, the pocket borough of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty.
In his 11-page complaint, Lal has made stinking allegations against the Congress President, which include; “Falsity about the educational qualifications;, ‘false declaration as far his personal identity is concerned’ and also ‘false nationality.’ He also alleged that the Congress nominee had also ‘concealed information regarding ownership of his property situation in the United Kingdom’, besides ‘profit earned’ from his business.
Lal claimed that Rahu’s degrees from the University of Cambridge and Rollins College were issued under the name of ‘Rahul Vinci” and ‘Rahul Gandhi.” Similarly, he alleged that Rahul Gandhi had declared his nationality as “British” in the ‘Memorandum of Association and Annual Return for the period ending August 21, 2005 of a British company, namely Backops Limited, where he reportedly served as one of the Directors.
Even in case of educational qualifications, he said there is a glaring falsehood on the affidavit; “Whether he has done his M Phil in the subject of ‘Development Economics’ or ‘Development studies’. Lal said the candidat has made purposefully false declaration and hence he may be called upon to produce original certificates before the Returning Officer.
According to TV reports, Rahull Gandhi was given time up to Monday to give clarifications to the questions raised by the independent candidate. The Returning Officer had also reportedly directed the Congress candidate to submit original certificates.
Apart from Amethi, Rahul Gandhi is also contesting from Wayanad in Kerala.
