Adah Sharma, the lead actress in the movie “The Kerala Story,” announced on Instagram that the film is coming to an online streaming platform. The movie, directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Shah.
She posted, ““FINALLY !!!!! SURPRISE !! The most anticipated film is dropping soon on ZEE5! #TheKeralaStory premieres on 16th February, only on #ZEE5 #TheKeralaStoryOnZEE5 #VipulAmrutlalShah #SaveOurDaughters.”
The movie revolves around three girls: Shalini (played by Adah Sharma), Nimah (played by Yogita Bihani), and Geetanjali (played by Siddhi Idnani). These girls are influenced by their roommate, Asifa (played by Sonia Balani), to change their religion.
The film has faced controversy since its trailer release. The trailer claimed that 32,000 women went missing in Kerala, but this number was disputed. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the film as a “distorted story” and initially banned it in the state. However, the ban was lifted after the Supreme Court intervened and asked the state government to allow the film’s screening.
The movie was release in theatres on May 5, 2023 and has finally made it to OTT after 9 months.
