Megastar Chiranjeevi is relying heavily on remakes of late. Incidentally, two of his upcoming three projects are remakes and that pretty much sums it up.
Well, there seems to be a strong reason why Chiranjeevi is taking a safe route with remakes.
Interestingly, Chiranjeevi’s comeback film Khaidi No. 150 was a Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster Kaththi. The film had a very good run at the box office and proved to be the ideal comeback film for the senior hero. However, Chiranjeevi’s immediate next project Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy which was a straight film with a native story failed to reach the expectations at the box office.
Cut to now, Chiranjeevi’s Acharya is facing multiple allegations regarding the story of the film. A senior Telugu writer is saying the story of Acharya belongs to him and Koratala Siva is using it without his consent. This is leaving the makers of the film in a tight spot.
With all this in mind, Chiranjeevi has come to a conclusion that remakes are a safer option as he will have an understanding of how the story shapes up by watching the original and then decide if it can be remade.
Chiru is already gearing up to star in the Telugu remakes of Lucifer and Vedhalam. He is open to work on more such remakes in the future as well.
