Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu has demanded immediate revocation of APERC’s directives to APSPDCL for the acquisition of Kuppam Rural Electric Co-operative Society(RESCO) in Chittoor district.
He said the arbitrary move to take over RESCO was not right, citing the failure to sell, distribute electricity, and obtain retail license exemptions.
To this end, he wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary (CS) of the state government, Adithyanath Das. Chandrababu recalled that RESCO was set up in 1981 with the aim of 100 percent electrification in Kuppam.
The company, which has about 1.22 Lakh shareholders, has 1.24 Lakh household, commercial, industrial and agricultural connections. RESCO, which has been running successfully since its inception, has been criticized for merging with APSPDCL for no proper valid reason.
