It’s been more than one year since Y.S.Vivekananda Reddy was murdered by a group of unidentified assassins in his house. Following his death, the previous government established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder.
As the SIT was not successful in investigating the case successfully, or getting any proper leads, the case was handed over to the CBI, and they started the investigation on July 18th. The CBI visited Vivekananda’s residence in Pulivendula on Tuesday, and thoroughly inspected the whole house, in the hope that they would make a breakthrough. The CBI also probed Vivekananda’s daughter Sunitha, and wife Sowbhagyamma.
The SIT handed over all the case files to the CBI, from the investigation it had done so far. More than 1,300 witnesses had been questioned by three SIT teams, when the case was still with them. Primarily, three suspects have been identified in the case, but their identities are still a mystery.
Unhappy with the way the SIT was dealing with the case, Vivekananda’s wife, Sowbhagyamma filed a petition in the High Court, requesting the High Court to hand the case over to the CBI. Finally, on March 10, 2020, the High Court handed the case over to the CBI.
More information and details regarding the case are still awaited as we write this.
